FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE MADRID BASED AMBASSADOR OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION TO MALLORCA.
Eastern (2006) celebrations of the Orthodox Church in Mallorca.
 
 

His Excellence Alexander I. Kuznetsov paid his first visit to Mallorca between 20th and 23rd of April 2006, reesponding to Archimandrite Makary's invitation for Easter celebrations.
The office of Count Marcov acted as the local link for this visit that included audiences with first Authorities. The General Consul of the Russian Federation in Barcelona, responsible for the consular affairs of the archipelago H.E. Dmitry Kazimirov, also escorted the Ambassador during the official visits.

invited Ambassador and Count Marcov to join him for dinner. The invitation included an accompanied visit to the "Baluard" Museum.
Count Marcov guided Ambassador Kuznetzov during his visit to the island, where he appreciated the remarkable seascapes as seen from the Trinidad monastery on the north coast. A guided visit to Miramar, one of the residences of Archduke Ludwig Salvatore Lorena and Bourbon of Austria, who lived for many years in Mallorca, was provied by Dr. Sevilla, present Lord of Miramar. At the old former Charthusian monastery (La Cartuja) of Valldemossa and in the same cell where Chopin and George Sand lived for a winter and where some of Chopin's master pieces where created, a private concert was performed for the guests.
Saturday night, at the Orthodox Church, a bright celebration of Easter took place in the presence of first authorities. Count Marcov acted as master of ceremony.
On Sunday, before leaving, Ambassador Kuznetzov also visited the Roman Catholic Cathedral, an extraordinary gothic building. A summary explanation of the cathedral was provided by Canon Father Alsina in charge of the ecumenical affairs of the Roman Catholic Bishopric in Mallorca.
